Chris Eubank Jr has been punished for slapping Conor Benn with an egg last month.
Tensions boiled over between Eubank Jr and Benn as they came head-to-head ahead of their rescheduled bout on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
After a 40-minute first press conference in Manchester, Eubank Jr slapped an egg across the face of his rival, before security intervened and prevented Benn from retaliating.
As such, Eubank Jr has been given a £100,000 fine by the British Boxing Board of Control [BBBofC] for his role in the now infamous egg slap.
In a statement the board said: “Following a hearing before the stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jr was found to be in breach of regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025.
“As such, the stewards of the board fined Chris Eubank Jr the sum of £100,000.”
The pair were supposed to have fought in October 2022, but their showdown was shelved on fight week after Benn twice tested positive for the banned substance Clomiphene.
In February 2023, the WBC reinstated the Essex man into their rankings after ruling that a “highly-elevated consumption of eggs” was a “reasonable explanation for the adverse finding.
The pair were kept apart at a second press conference in London two days later and Benn felt his rival should have been handed a much bigger financial penalty.
“I think he should get a million pound fine for the slap,” the 28-year-old told Pro Boxing Fans.
“Just due to the profile of the fight.

“I feel like it would be an injustice if it was anything less than a million pounds.”
‘The Destroyer’ had his suspension lifted by the National Anti-Doping Panel in November, with the BBBofC electing not to appeal against it.
Benn is expected to reapply for his British licence having given it up in the weeks after his positive drug tests emerged.
The son of former two-weight world champion, Nigel had two fights in the USA in the interim, the last a unanimous decision victory over Peter Dobson last February.
Eubank Jr on the other hand has secured the IBO middleweight title in October, stopping Kamil Szeremeta in seven rounds in Riyadh.
The original Eubank Jr-Benn meeting was supposed to take place at a catchweight of 157lbs, but their April showdown will be contested at 160lbs, with a 10lb rehydration clause on the morning of the fight.
