Speculation has been rife over the past few weeks with regards to who Chris Eubank Jr’s next opponent will be – and the boxing world finally has an answer.

Eubank Jr had been linked to a money-spinning clash with Mexican superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, however this fell through after the two teams reportedly failed to agree terms.

It was announced this week that the 35-year-old will instead feature on the stacked undercard of Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol on October 12th in Saudi Arabia, with BOXXER stablemates Ben Whittaker and Jack Massey also featuring.

The man tasked with defeating the Brighton man on the night will be Polish middleweight contender Kamil Szeremeta, who has a couple of recognisable names on his 25-2-2 record.

Szeremeta locked horns with Gennady Golovkin and Jaime Munguia in 2020 and 2021 respectively, though was comfortably stopped on both occasions.

Aside from the two former world champions, there is little to write home about on the resume of the 34-year-old, who battled to a ten round split draw against unheralded Ecuadorian Abel Mina last time out.

All that being considered Eubank Jr is a heavy favourite to emerge victorious when the pair throw down at the Kingdom Arena, potentially paving the way for bigger and better things in 2025.

‘Next Gen’ was last in the ring over a year ago, when he scored a revenge victory over Liam Smith at the Manchester Arena by way of a tenth round TKO.

Many pundits hailed that performance as one of the best of the 34-year-old’s career, especially given the fact he was emphatically stopped inside four rounds by Smith in their first encounter.

A name that has been repeatedly linked to Eubank’s over the past two years is Conor Benn, with a fight between the pair incessantly floated despite the latter’s ongoing performance enhancing drugs scandal.

However, with Benn’s case seemingly drawing to a close, 2025 could be the year the pair finally get the chance to settle their differences.
