Chris Eubank Sr has blasted Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom ahead of his son’s showdown with Conor Benn next weekend.

Benn, who has been promoted by Hearn for the entirety of his professional career, will take on Chris Eubank Jr at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26 in the most hotly-anticipated British fight of 2025.

The clash will take place at ‘Next Gen’s natural division of middleweight, despite the fact the majority of his family rival’s bouts have taken place two weight classes below at welterweight.

And Eubank Sr, who has been staunchly opposed to the fight and is never one to hide his true feelings, has had his say.

In an explosive interview on Froch on Fighting, ‘English’ accused Hearn of “destroying” Benn’s career and stated the 28-year-old will “lose something” from the move up in weight.

“My concern is for my son. But because I’m a dad, it means I also have to be a dad to Conor.

“Conor is destroying his career. Or someone.. it’s Matchroom, it’s the promoter that are destroying his career.

“Because once you go up to 160, coming back down to 147 doesn’t work. You lose something.

“How do I know? I went up to cruiserweight to fight Carl Thompson. Amazing fight, but that was an assassination attempt.”

Though Benn will be the smaller man on the night, a 10lb next day rehydration clause is in place, which some pundits believe could level the playing field.

Eubank took tensions between the pair to a new level at the fight’s launch press conference back in February, when he slapped Benn across the face with an egg.

He was fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control for his troubles, though has reiterated on several occasions he has no regrets and the slap was retribution for ‘The Destroyer’ failing two performance enhancing drugs tests.
