Chris Eubank Sr almost broke down in tears during an emotional chat about his son’s upcoming clash with Conor Benn.
Eubank Sr was vocal in his disdain towards his son facing Benn when the pair were first meant to fight in October 2022, before the bout was shelved after Benn failed two drug tests.
The former two-weight world champion has maintained his stance since it was rearranged to April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and admits he’s “hurt” by it taking place.
“My son having to boil himself down to 160lbs,” Eubank Sr told IFLTV.
“Three years ago they were talking about him coming down to 157lbs.

“What is that?
“This is daylight murder.
“We have to protect the fighters.
“I’m so hurt by this by what’s happened to him and this is the situation they’re putting my son in now.
“Conor, they’re destroying his career if they haven’t already destroyed it.”
Much of Eubank Sr’s concerns are derived from the rehydration clause which prevents either fighter from coming in over 170lbs on the morning of the clash, a clause which appears to favour the smaller man in Benn.
The 58-year-old, who fought Benn’s father Nigel in two classic battles in the 1990s, was a regular figure in the early stages of his son’s career, but the pair have drifted apart in recent years.

Asked if he’d spoken to his son about the fight, he replied: “He won’t listen to me.
“He’s only looking at the money.
“What does a dad do if the son won’t listen?
“The dad has to come and speak to the public directly.
“My son will not listen.”

Eubank Jr was fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control for slapping his rival with an egg at the first press conference to promote their showdown.
There is reportedly a two-way rematch clause in the contract, meaning it’s likely that fans will see a second instalment regardless of the result next week.
