Harlem Eubank moves up to welterweight this Friday when he faces Nurali Erdogan at the Walker Activity Dome in Newcastle.

Kalle Sauerland’s Wasserman Boxing promote, while Channel 5 televise Eubank vs Erdogan live in the UK.

Eubank (19-0, 8 KOs) has made gradual steps up the ladder since 2022, where he fought four times, including an impressive second round knockout of Sean ‘Masher’ Dodd.

2023 saw three fights for the Brightonian, and after a wide points win over Miguel Cesario Antin, he then stopped Ishmael Ellis in seven in July.

Eubank then rounded off the year with a career-best effort in his first scheduled twelve rounder, outclassing Timo Shwarzkopf, dropping the German twice on the way to a penultimate round stoppage that won him the vacant WBO Global super lightweight title.

His debut at 147 pounds is a safe one, with Erdogan (16-3, 1 KO) not a noted puncher, with only one early win on his record. The Frenchman has lost three of his last seven, the last a split decision reverse to the unbeaten Faizan Anwar in Abu Dhabi in May.

Prediction: Eubank should ease his way in to the new weight, and I expect him to take a landslide win on the scorecards.

Undercard preview

The other ten rounder on the bill is at super lightweight, where Ben Marksby (10-0, 0 KOs) can do this distance for the first time, and take a points win against Levi Kinsiona (11-3, 1 KO), who is due to challenge for the English title at lightweight next month.

In eight rounders, Dan Toward (4-0, 3 KOs) can thrill his fans once more, and can stop Johan Nova (9-1, 7 KOs) inside schedule at super welterweight. Robert Lloyd-Taylor Jr (8-0, 1 KO) can win on points in his welterweight encounter with Robin Zamora (21-33, 10 KOs).

In six round action, Cyrus Pattinson (6-1, 4 KOs) makes a Wasserman debut, and he can return from defeat to Conah Walker last time out by taking his debut at super welterweight against Andrei Antonov (4-3-2, 1 KO) inside the distance.

Joe Laws (14-3, 5 KOs) is fresh off a shootout loss to Stephen McKenna in August, and ‘The Benwell Bomber’ should return to winning ways via the early route against Adam Cieslak (8-21-1, 3 KOs) at middleweight.

Unbeaten super middleweight Niall Brown (12-0, 4 KOs) can bank a points win against Pablo Sosa (12-8-3, 3 KOs), and J’Hon Ingram (5-0, 4 KOs) can do the same in his super featherweight meeting with Jonatas Rodrigo Gomes de Oliveira (6-15, 5 KOs).

Super featherweight talent Sophie Alisch (9-0, 1 KOs) can stay unbeaten with a points win against Marina Sakharov (6-19-2, 3 KOs).

In four round attractions, Codie Smith (3-0-1, 0 KOs) should come through on the cards against Engel Gomez (8-40-3, 4 KOs) at super featherweight, and at super bantamweight, Lee Rogers (1-0, 0 KOs) can also win on points against the tough Yin Caicedo (10-26-4, 4 KOs). Super featherweight novice Eduard Georgiev (1-0, 0 KOs) should need the duration to see off Jack England (1-11-1, 0 KOs).
