JuanMa and Gamboa Win Big Over the Weekend; Where Do They Rank in the Featherweight Division?
Both Juan Manuel Lopez and Yuriorkis Gamboa won in a big way on Saturday evening in the featherweight division. Gamboa disposed of Rogers Mtagwa in just two explosive rounds. The bantamweight fighter never stood a chance against Gamboa’s aggressive and super-quick assault. Of course, he had previously given Lopez all of the trouble in the world. Styles make fights, but that adds even more intrigue to the eventual showdown between Gamboa and Lopez.
Lopez took care of respected titlist Steven Luevano with a stoppage victory. His work was more gradual, but he still took care of business and ended up battering the champion into defeat. With both of the fighters winning and winning big – and Lopez getting his first featherweight fight in – where do they stand in the featherweight division?
