Fidel “The Atrisco Kid” Maldonado Jr. (20-3, 17 KOs) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, signed a multi-year multi-fight promotion contract with Golden Boy Promotions today. Fresh off a victory against Lowell Brownfield in September, Maldonado Jr. is ready to continue on his journey to championship glory.

Fidel Maldonado Jr. is a determined 24-year-old veteran at 135 pounds known for his aggressive style and feared punching power. In his most recent fight on Sept. 5, Maldonado won a first-round technical knockout over Lowell Brownfield in New Mexico. In previous fights, Maldonado Jr. has been in the ring against Amir “Grand Master” Imam, which received acclaimed as potential fight of the year nominee.
Maldonado Jr. has also faced tough contenders like Nelson Lara, former U.S. Olympian Luis Ramos Jr., lightweight contender Michael “The Artist” Perez, and Fernando “El Guerrero Yaqui” Carcamo earning himself the WBC Youth Silver Lightweight Title along the way. The southpaw was a standout amateur fighter with 230 amateur fights, and only recorded 12 losses. He was a bronze medalist at the 2008 National Golden Gloves Championships and a silver medalist at the 2008 U.S. National Championships.
