The Fight Game with Jim Lampley returns with a new edition tonight at 11pm, exclusively on HBO.
The big topic of discussion for this edition is clearly going to be the middleweight division. We just saw Miguel Cotto make quick work of Daniel Geale. Of course, we’ve seen Gennady Golovkin in action recently, too, and he also made quick work of Geale. More interesting though is that after Cotto vs. Geale, contested at a catchweight of 157 lbs, talk turned to Cotto’s next fight against Canelo Alvarez.
Cotto also admitted that he’s not a middleweight, but did go onto say that after a fight with Canelo, that he would potentially be fighting Golovkin if he was available. Cotto vs. Canelo with the winner against GGG would certainly be a treat for fight fans.
This edition of THE FIGHT GAME includes: a look at the current landscape of the sport by Lampley and Max Kellerman; a video review of recent high-profile middleweight action, plus a discussion of the division with ring legend Bernard Hopkins; Michelle Beadle goes one-on-one with welterweight star Timothy Bradley Jr. at his training camp in Palms Springs; a 15th-anniversary revisit of the showdown between Oscar de la Hoya and Shane Mosley; and an all-new Gatti list, presented by Lampley.
Immediately following the show’s debut on June 9, fight fans can log on to hbo.com for an exclusive overtime segment hosted by Lampley.
