Floyd Mayweather has gotten into more than his fair share of outside-the-ropes trouble over the course of his career. He is fresh off a three month stint in jail, after all.
The latest incident centers around Mayweather’s antics ringside during the Cornelius Bundrage vs. Ishe Smith fight in Detroit several weeks ago, apparently suggestively dancing and gyrating around Shawana Bundrage, K9’s wife and manager. Smith promoted by Mayweather, defeated Bundrage to win his first world title.
In the lead-up to the fight, Shawana apparently did some of her own talking to build up the fight, and to potentially work towards landing a mega-opportunity against Mayweather. Nothing wrong with that, really. But apparently, according to Mayweather’s camp, that’s what the dancing and bragging was about, and nothing more.
In the original report from The Detroit News, cited above, this leads the story:
Shawana Bundrage did not deserve to have a man gyrate his hips around her face while watching husband Cornelius Bundrage fight in the ring last week at the Masonic Temple. She did not deserve a grown man getting in her face and screaming while minding her own business. She also did not deserve the laughter that surrounded this despicable ac
Now, weeks later, here’s what K9 Bundrage had to say on his public Facebook account:
The more I see the picture on the internet of Floyd dancing around my wife like a male dancer the more I can’t wait to see him face2face. Boxing is one thing, but the streets is another. Some things you just can’t get away with. I don’t care if you’re the devil. We all have to answer to somebody.
That sounds pretty serious, if you ask me, and any time you involve another person’s wife, an incident which Mayweather seemed to suggest and joke about on an appearance on the Jim Rome Showtime show, you’re heading in a dangerous direction.
