It’s June 1st, and that means one thing: Floyd Mayweather reports to jail today. He’s due to report at 10:45 am pacific time this morning, to judge Melissa Saragosa at the Clark County Justice Center. He’s set to serve an 87-day sentence.
Many folks were wondering whether or not Mayweather would ever have to serve his time, after having his sentence postponed earlier this year in order to go through with his May 5th fight date. They figured Mayweather’s lawyers would find some way around actually having him serve, but unless there’s some super maneuver at the absolute last second, he’ll be headed off to jail today.
Now, whether or not he serves the full three months, or gets out early, is another matter. We’ll obviously here more about that as time goes on. Meanwhile, while the Las Vegas sports books and clubs will surely miss Mr. Mayweather and the Money Team, the town will focus next on the upcoming Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley fight.
After Mayweather’s jail sentence though, the next question will be who he will be fighting next, and when he’ll get into the ring next. With a potential late-August release back into society, Mayweather could potentially put something together for later this year, if he so chooses.
