Analysis
Yes, that’s Mayweather at -10,000 and Berto at +1,600! Mayweather should be a very large favorite, but those numbers are off the charts. Berto isn’t a great opponent at this stage, but we still consider him the #12 ranked welterweight on the planet. Those kinds of odds should be reserved for a far worse level of opponent than Berto.
They’re clearly trying to encourage some action on people taking fliers that Berto will win because the payoff would be so huge, while minimizing paying off people who play it safe and side with Mayweather.
The more interesting bet though may be that prop bet of whether Mayweather fights next year. I think that “yes” is an absolute lock. He wants 50-0 against Cotto or Canelo, I’ve always said. There’s no chance he leaves the opportunity for surpassing Rocky Marciano and reaching 50-0, no chance. So take the “Yes” on that prop bet.
I also think with Berto’s history of badly swelling around his eyes that there’s a chance this fight gets stopped. So depending on how the over/under odds look, you may want to opt for the under to get a decent payout.
