Frank Warren believes a fight between David Haye and Tyson Fury would be a “huge” occasion, but insists the ‘Hayemaker’ has more to do before thinking about facing the ‘Gypsy King’.
On a bizarre card in Florida on Saturday, in which former two-weight world champion Evander Holyfield, 58, was stopped inside a round by Vitor Belfort, Haye was at the centre of the headlines after his shock callout of Fury.
Haye, a former two-weight world champion himself came out of retirement to comfortably beat Joe Fournier by unanimous decision over eight two-minute rounds, after landing a first round knockdown.
The 40-year-old then insisted he would only come back for a fight with Fury, who he pulled out of two scheduled fights with through injury in 2013 and 2014 respectively, claiming he is all wrong for the WBC heavyweight world champion.
“There’s one fighter I’d come back to professional boxing for. That’s Tyson Fury,” Haye said.
“That big fat dosser, I know his kryptonite, I know what he can’t handle.
“It’s been in my mind for a long time, since 2013.
“The fight didn’t happen, I got an injury.
“I’ve always wanted that fight. I’ve seen him get better and better. His reputation has got bigger and bigger.
“If I’m going to come back into boxing with a real fight, against someone special? That is the guy I know I can beat.

“I know his style. I know what he does well.
“My attributes don’t work well for his style. Him and his team know that.
“They probably think I’m old so they probably will take the fight.”
Fury’s co-promoter, Frank Warren has now weighed in on the talk and insists Haye would have to face someone with a ranking first.
“Him and Tyson let’s get it right would be a huge fight, there’s no doubt about that,” Warren told IFLTV.
“But, I think he’s got to do a bit more before talking about Tyson Fury.

“Number one he’d have to get rated and to get rated you’ve got to fight a rated fighter.”
Fury is preparing for a third fight with Deontay Wilder on October 9, over 19 months after he stopped the American in seven stunning rounds to rip away the WBC crown in their Las Vegas rematch, following a drawn first fight.
