This past Saturday night at the Santander Arena, Super Featherweight Frank De Alba scored a 5th round stoppage over tough Mexican Pablo Patres on a King’s Boxing mixed amateur and pro card.
De Alba dominated the bout by using his height and boxing ability. Batres tried to get inside but was never able to sustain much of a rhythm.
In round five, De Alba landed a hard hook to the body that sent Batres to the canvas. Batres complained of a low blow but was not able to beat referee Gary Rosado’s count at the 1:54 mark of round five. Batres continued to complain about the punch. Fans can be the judge when the fight is replayed on Comcast Sportsnet in the next couple weeks.
De Alba of reading, PA is now 13-1-2 with five knockouts. Batres of Nogales, Mexico is 7-10-1.
In the co-feature, Danny Lugo scored a mild upset by scoring a 4-round majority decision over Pat Kehoe in a Jr. Middleweight bout. Lugo outboxed the hard charging Kehoe and won by scores of 40-36, 39-37 and 38-38. Lugo of Harrisburg, PA is now 3-7. Kehoe of Reading is 1-1.
Good looking Lightweight prospect Rolando Chinea scored three knockdowns en route to a 2nd round stoppage over Robert Ramos in a scheduled four round bout. Chinea scored two knockdowns in round one and one more in round two and the fight was stopped at 2:04. Chinea of Lancaster is now 8-0-1 with 5 knockouts. Ramos of Allentown, PA is 1-3-1.
Alex Sanchez of Camden, New Jersey boxed his way to a four round unanimous decision over Miguel Martinez in a Jr. Middleweight bout. Scores were 40-36 on all cards for Sanchez who is now 4-4. Martinez of Reading, PA is 1-1.
Christian Molina dropped Jordan Morales twice in round one which led to a stoppage victory in the same round of their scheduled 4-round Jr. Welterweight bout. The time of the stoppage was 2:42 for Molina of Allentown, PA and is now 2-0 with 1 knockout. Morales was making his pro debut.
Antonio DuBose scored a 4-round unanimous decision over Benjamin Burgos in a Featherweight bout. DuBose of Philadelphia won by scores of 40-36 twice and 39-37 to raise his perfect mark to 6-0. Burgos of Mount Pocono, PA is 1-8-1.
