Freddie Roach is never shy about speaking his mind, whether it’s about an upcoming opponent specifically, a prediction for a knockout of said opponent by his charge Manny Pacquiao, or anything else. These days, he’s been taking plenty of shots against Floyd Mayweather, as training camps have opened for the May 2nd mega-fight between the two boxing greats.
The latest of which saw Roach poke some fun at the news that Mayweather is paying $1,000 per meal.
So what’s cooking at camp Mayweather? “Whatever it is it sure sounds expensive,” said Roach.
Roach, a record 7-time trainer of the year was responding to reports that Mayweather had hired renowned Las Vegas-based Chef Q to provide training camp regal repasts – at $1,000.00 per meal.
“I hope she knows how to make crow and soft foods palatable because after he faces Manny that is all Mayweather will be eating.
“I’ve read that Chef Q will be preparing meals high in protein which is perfect because Floyd is going to be eating a lot of ‘Leather a la Manny’ and it will be served piping hot.
Thousand dollar meals, give me a break. Floyd is getting his just desserts on May 2.”
