Statement from Freddie Roach on Induction into IBHOF

Official word has come through that Freddie Roach will be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF). Right here, you can find a statement from Roach and what it all means to him to be honored like this, and join his mentor, Eddie Futch, with permanent enshrinement amongst the boxing legends.

Freddie Roach Statement:

“I’d like to thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart, who voted for me and congratulate those inducted with me today. I started my career in professional boxing with Eddie Futch and now we will be together, forever, enshrined in the International Boxing Hall of Fame with the greatest legends of the sport. I am truly honored and humbled.”

Freddie Roach is certainly all over the boxing landscape today. He’s the trainer to Manny Pacquiao, and works with many of the sport’s other brightest stars, such as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Amir Khan and scores of other noteworthy fighters and prospects.

He has also been in the news lately as HBO will be unveiling a special documentary series called On Freddie Roach, which offers an inside look at his life as one of the sport’s busiest and most successful trainers while trying to live and cope with Parkinson’s Disease. The series will debut in January 2012.

Congratulations to Roach on his achievement, as well as to the rest of the newest class of inductees, Thomas Hearns, Michael Buffer, Marc Johnson, Al Berstein and Michael Katz.
