Never one to be afraid of putting his opinions out there, Carl Froch has doubled down on his criticism of Anthony Joshua.

Froch and Joshua have been at each other’s throats since the former exposed a heated WhatsApp conversation last week.

The pair used to have a good relationship and were actually stablemates for a short period of time, with both under the tutelage of stalwart trainer Rob McCracken.

However, whatever goodwill did exist between the pair has completely eroded over the past few years, with Froch having aired plenty of criticism the way of ‘AJ’ – as well as just about everyone else in British boxing.

And speaking to BestOnlinePokerSites, ‘The Cobra’ went as far to describe his countryman as a “plastic gangster.”

“I’ve not even shared most of the messages. I’ve shared 10% of them.

“Whether I should or shouldn’t have done it, I shared the bit where he’s flashing a bit of cash and a Rolex watch. It’s plastic gangster stuff. It’s pathetic, it’s childish, it’s a bit ridiculous and I think he’ll be cringing now.

“I’ve done it cause why should I be abused by somebody in his position?”

Over the past year, Froch has laid into ‘AJ’s CV, his mental state, called his upcoming fight with Daniel Dubois a British level match-up, claimed that when Andy Ruiz Jr beat him in 2019 he ‘took his soul away’ and plenty more.

Joshua can ill afford to be distracted by the Nottingham man’s comments, with his eyes set on becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion when he takes on Dubois at Wembley Stadium on September 21.

Both have suffered relatively recent defeats to heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk, who was forced to vacate the IBF belt shortly after attaining undisputed status by defeating Tyson Fury back in May.

This saw ‘DDD’ crowned full heavyweight champion of the world, raising the stakes even more for the mouthwatering domestic dust-up this August.
