Carl Froch has hit back at Eddie Hearn after his former promoter labelled him a ‘hater’ of Anthony Joshua.

During an interview with Pro Boxing Fans last week, Hearn responded to Froch over his reaction to Joshua’s fifth round stoppage defeat to Daniel Dubois last month, in which the former super middleweight champion questioned the Watford man’s hunger.

Froch has taken exception to the Matchroom Chairman’s comments and insists he has given respect has given respect to Joshua after he was dropped four times by Dubois, dashing his hopes of becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion

“I said he went out on his shield,” the 47-year-old said on Froch On Fighting.

“He was in there, he was taking punishment and he never had any quit in there and he stayed in there.

“He needed respect for staying in there and not quitting and that’s exactly what I give him.

“So Eddie Hearn giving me a bit of s*** and saying that I’m an AJ hater, it’s not right, it’s inaccurate and that’s why I’m pulling him on it.”

Froch and Joshua have had a public back-and-forth over recent months, with ‘The Cobra’ leaking voice messages from his former stablemate and describing him as a ‘plastic gangster’ at the height of their feud.

The Nottingham man claimed in July that their dispute was settled and has now revealed that he reached out to his countryman after his devastating loss to Dubois.

“Me an AJ go back a lot further than Eddie Hills [Hearn] does,” he added.

“We’ve known each other a lot longer.

“I used to train with him at the EIS, we had the same coach.

“Actually after the fight I’m the guy that’s to him, messaged him, had a conversation with him asking him if he’s ok.

“I’m more concerned about his health than how much money he’s earning me, because I’m not the promoter taking the dough am I off the fighters.

“I’m the guy that’s worrying, because I understand boxing.

“I’ve been in there. I’ve been punched in the face.

“I know what it feels like to wake up in the morning after a loss when you’re concussed.

“I reached out to Anthony Joshua. We had a good conversation.

“He called me a mentor which was really nice and I don’t think Eddie Hearn understands the relationship that me and Anthony Joshua have got.

“We’ve got a profound respect for each other, because we’re both warriors, we’re both fighters.”
