Tyson Fury’s brother, Shane Fury says he’s hopeful that the Oleksandr Usyk rematch will be his last bout.

Fury looks to avenge his sole professional defeat to Usyk, when he meets the Ukrainian for a second time on December 21 in Saudi Arabia.

‘The Gypsy King’ will be 36-years-old by the time he steps back into the ring and despite the lure of a long-awaited all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua potentially in the pipeline, Shane admits he doesn’t want to see his brother box beyond the rematch.

“I think with the right instructions and the right prep, I think Tyson can do it,” Fury told IFLTV.

“But, by no means is it gonna be easy and it’s number one and two that’s fighting and hopefully he can get the win.

“Win, lose or draw, if he stops in a round and looks excellent doing it or stops him in six rounds and looks excellent doing it or loses or draws in an excellent fight, me as a brother I want him to say see you later with the boxing, because there’s only so much you can do.

“God willing if he has this good fight and he comes out and both men shake hands and both men leave healthy and strong, he can actually spend the money he’s earned and look back at the career he’s done and think wow!

“There’s not many people if any when you look at the stats and what’s happened and done what he’s done, he can appreciate that.”

Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion by outpointing Fury on May 18, but has since relinquished the IBF belt, which will be contested by Daniel Dubois and Joshua on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

Fury survived a disastrous ninth round and many felt he was given too many instructions with head trainer SugarHill Steward, former world middleweight champion, Andy Lee and father John Fury all in the corner, a view Shane echoes.

“100% agree,” he added.

“My dad wants the best for his sons and the best for his son after he’s been put down and nearly knocked cold out, is to get him through the fight, f*** the boxing.

“You can be KO’d and not wake up.

“That’s his mentality because he wants the best for his sons, but sometimes when you want the best for someone it’s the not the best instructions.”
