Ryan Garcia returns to the ring in two weeks’ time at Times Square after over a year out of the ring, though he is already eyeing up big things for the future.

Garcia will take on the polarising Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero in the main event of the historic New York show, which also features his arch-rival Devin Haney taking on Jose Ramirez as chief support.

And though another showdown between ‘King Ry’ and Haney seems all but certain if both men emerge victorious, the popular Californian has admitted there’s another, perhaps even tougher challenge on his radar.

Philadelphia welterweight, Jaron Ennis added Eimantas Stanionis’ WBA title to his IBF strap after a stunning performance in Atlantic City last weekend, with the Lithuanian’s corner waving the contest off after six, one-sided rounds.

And when asked by Fight Hub TV about the possibility of himself and ‘Boots’ locking horns in the future, Garcia seemed keen on the idea.

“100%. Another big fight, another mega event.

“It’s what I like to do so I don’t shy away from anybody willing to do that, too. He looked good [last weekend].

“I think Stanionis is a perfect fighter to look good for, obviously he’s there to get hit a lot, not a lot of defence, but Boots did what he had to do and he looked great doing it.

“I look forward to great competition in the future.

“He does [get hit with punches]. I mean but he’s a big boy, though so he’s taken ‘em well so far but in this sport it only takes one good one.”

A fight with Garcia is almost certain to be one for the future, given Ennis has expressed his desire to first pursue the other champions at 147lbs.

However, should both men remain in the winning column, a clash between the pair could end up being one of the biggest in all of boxing.
