On just three days’ notice, Philadelphian Garrett Wilson, 13-6-1, 7 KOs, has agreed to take on rising heavyweight prospect Vyacheslav “Czar” Glazkov, 15-0-1, 11 KOs, in a nationally televised 10-rounder at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY.
The opportunity came when Galzkov’s original opponent, Tomasz Adamek, was forced to pull out of the bout on short notice due to a stomach virus.
With the fight slated for Saturday afternoon and the chance to perform in front of millions on the NBC network television platform, facing Glazkov amounts to a chance of a lifetime for Wilson. And the fighter known as “The Ultimate Warrior” is ready to make the most of his big break.
“I think this is an excellent opportunity for me to showcase my talent on NBC,” Wilson said. “It’s a gift, and I am going to make the most of it. Everybody will get to see me. It’s amazing!”
Wilson has always been a fighter ready and willing to take on the world. It’s not the first time he’s stepped into the ring on short notice, but this time the stakes – and possible rewards – have never been greater.
“I’ve taken fights on 24-hour notice,” Wilson said. “I took this fight because I like to fight guys who, on paper, look like excellent fighters, and then show that I am better.”
Wilson’s resume includes several upset wins, as well as a few truly spectacular knockouts. If the former USBA & NABF cruiserweight champion can do it again on Saturday afternoon, he will make his mark in the heavyweight division and jump-start his career like never before.
“I’m going to give the fans a show,” Wilson said. “They call me the “Ultimate Warrior”, and this is what I do. I’m always in shape, and I’m always ready for battle. This is the chance I’ve been waiting for and I’m going to show the world who I am.”
