As IBF middleweight champion, Daniel “The Real Deal” Geale (26-1, 15 KOs), prepares for his highly anticipated title defense against mandatory challenger, Osumanu Adama (20-2, 15 KOs), on March 7, 2012, big opportunities lie ahead if he is to be victorious.
On the horizon are potential unification bouts with Dmitry Pirog (19-0, 15 KOs), Felix Strum (36-2-2, 15 KOs) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (45-1-1, 31 KOs), as well as Ring Magazine champion Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27 KOs), all of which could be televised on HBO or SHOWTIME.
“The future is very bright for Daniel Geale,” said Promoter Gary Shaw. “There is interest among the major networks for his next fight if he can get passed Adama. Sergio Martinez is considered a pound for pound champion, and we would love to take that fight. First things first though and Geale must be victorious against a very game challenger in Adama and that’s where the focus is right now. Daniel wants to show the world why he should be considered the best middleweight in the division.”
Said Geale, “I know if I defeat Adama on March 7, a floodgate of opportunities will open up for me. Sergio Martinez is the person everyone in the middleweight division is seeking so I’ll entertain that fight when it presents itself. I’ll be willing to unify the titles with all the champions but, right now my concentration is solely on Adama. My team and I have a great game plan and I’ll be ready to execute it on fight night. Training camp has been going great.”
