For Mercito Gesta, this was the biggest fight of his still young career, and it was a showcase as he tries to make the leap from prospect into contender. He made quick work of Ivan Valle, winning by TKO in the second round. Gesta put him down twice in the first, and Valle barely made it out of the round and back to his corner. In the second, it took less than 30 seconds for Gesta to get Valle in trouble once again, and the referee jumped in and put a close to the action. Gesta improves to 20-0-1 with 10 KOs.

In other action, unbeaten prospect Michael Franco took home a wide unanimous decision over his opponent. He improves to 17-0 with 11 KOs, and put on a workmanlike performance against a tough, veteran challenger in Adolfo Landeros, who falls to 20-16-1.

Don’t miss the action Friday, November 5, when “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” hits the Cosme Beitia Salamo Coliseum in Cataño, Puerto Rico headlined by a junior welterweight showdown between Jose Miguel Cotto and Oscar Leon.  Tune in at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT (10:30 p.m. CT) on TeleFutura.
