The AO Arena in Manchester hosts a Matchroom-promoted show this Saturday night, with a super featherweight crossroads clash between Jordan Gill and Zelfa Barrett the headliner.

DAZN is the place to watch Gill vs Barrett live worldwide.

Gill (28-2-1, 9 KOs) was considered to be on the slide after going life and death in a win for the European featherweight title against Karim Guerfi in February 2022, before being ruthlessly stopped a fight later in four rounds by old warhorse, Kiko Martinez.

The 29-year-old was the B side for a move up in weight against Michael Conlan last December, but ‘The Thrill’ ripped up the script, scoring a highly impressive seventh round stoppage against the Irishman.

His reward is a meeting with home favourite Barrett (30-2, 16 KOs), who is looking to climb back up to world level having tasted it in November 2022.

That night, the 30-year-old dropped Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov in the third round, before being stopped in nine in a challenge for the vacant IBF world title.

‘Brown Flash’ has been out twice since, starting with a points win over twelve against Jason Sanchez in April, and an eight round points victory against Costin Ion in November.

Prediction: This is a tough one to call, but I think Barrett’s elusiveness may frustrate Gill, and that could be enough for the Manchester man to emerge with a points win.

Scotney-Lefebvre in unification clash

Ellie Scotney attempts to unify, as the IBF super bantamweight champion takes on WBO queen, Segolene Lefebvre.

Shane McGuigan-trained, Scotney (8-0) is a skilled operator, winning her title with a clear points win over Cherneka Johnson in June last year, and she defended three months later, routing Laura Soledad Griffa on the cards.

Lefebvre (18-0, 1 KO) won the vacant WBO strap in 2021, and has made three defences in her native France, the last a majority nod against Tysie Gallagher in November 2023.

Prediction: Scotney should unify with a clear points win.

Dixon clashes with Carabajal for world title

The other world title fight comes at lightweight, where Rhiannon Dixon goes for the vacant WBO title against the experienced Karen Elizabeth Carabajal.

Dixon (9-0, 1 KO) won the vacant European title last time out, outscoring Katharina Thanderz, but Carabajal (22-1, 3 KOs) will be a tough test, having only lost to Katie Taylor for the undisputed lightweight title in 2022.

The Argentine has won three on the spin since then in her homeland.

Prediction: I lean towards Dixon, but it could be a close win on the cards.

Gomez Jr-Baker meet in English title bout

Michael Gomez Jr (20-1, 5 KOs) makes a first defence of the English super featherweight title he won against Levi Giles last March and he should have enough to take a points victory against the tough Kane Baker (19-10-2, 1 KO).

Remaining Undercard

The sole eight rounder features a man held to a draw by Baker in his last contest, Jordan Flynn, who can return to winning ways with a points win against Tampela Maharusi (10-4-4, 5 KOs) at lightweight.

Victory for Flynn (9-0-1, 1 KO) should ensure a rescheduled bout with rival Cameron Vuong, who withdrew with a minor injury.

In six rounders, Jimmy Sains (3-0, 3 KOs) can continue his perfect start with an early win at middleweight against Mateusz Kalecki (2-1, 1 KO), and William Crolla (4-0, 3 KOs) may need all four rounds at super welterweight to win against Fabio Cascone (4-9, 1 KO).

Featherweight prospect, Brandon Scott (6-0, 1 KO) can take a points win over Rodrigo Matias Areco (5-5-2), and at super flyweight, Jack Turner (5-0, 5 KOs) can win early again, this time against Abdul Kesi Ngaoma (7-5-1, 6 KOs).

The sole four rounder is at middleweight, where Stephen Clarke (1-0, 1 KO) should have too much for Jensen Irving (4-0), and can bank a points win.
