In this special 10-minute video interview, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer hits on a lot of intriguing subjects in boxing right now, including the potential of finally seeing Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao. Schaefer also talks on Mayweather’s upcoming fight against Miguel Cotto, and the co-feature of the evening, Saul Alvarez vs. Shane Mosley. He’s talking to begin with though about Golden Boy’s new deal with BoxNation to showcase fights in the UK, providing two fight cards per month: one high level HBO or Showtime caliber type card, and one of their more prospect-laden, Solo Boxeo type cards.
As mentioned, Schaefer hits on a lot of different things here. He also talks about the rematch coming up between Lamont Peterson and Amir Khan, he talks about the Ring Kings PPV, and whether or not Mayweather will take on Canelo at some point down the road. According to him, Canelo is asking for that all the time.
He gives his thoughts on whether or not Mayweather-Pacquiao will ever happen, and according to him, it’s a never say never kind of situation. He think it will happen eventually, when Pacquiao is closer to the end of his career, but it’s on Bob Arum and Pacquiao to want to get it done because they have been trying.
