HBO Sports presents World Championship Boxing: Canelo Alvarez vs. Liam Smith, the exclusive replay of their junior middleweight title fight, this Saturday, September 24th at 10:05 p.m.
The HBO Sports team, which was ringside at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex. on Sept. 17, calls the action, which will be available in HDTV, closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired and presented in Spanish on HBO Latino.
Making his first appearance at the home of the Dallas Cowboys before a crowd of more than 50,000, 26-year-old Canelo Alvarez returned to the 154-pound weight class seeking another world championship belt in a fight seen live on HBO Pay-Per-View.
The showdown with 28-year-old Liam Smith, the reigning world junior middleweight titleholder, ended in the ninth round when Canelo registered a powerful KO triumph with a textbook body shot.
The fight more or less went according to plan, with Canelo simply being too much for a fighter of Smith’s caliber. After this, hopefully it’s onto bigger and better things for Canelo. Um, Gennady Golovkin, anybody?
