Eddie Hearn and Leonard Ellerbe appeared to put their long-time rivalry to bed, with the pair crossing paths in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Hearn and Ellerbe have taken several shots at each other in the media over the last few years, particular when the latter was CEO of Mayweather Promotions.

Much of their feud stemmed from the British promoter’s remarks teasing a potential move for Gervonta Davis, when he was coming towards the end of his deal with Floyd Mayweather’s company.

Since leaving Mayweather, WBA lightweight champion, Davis has fought under the Premier Boxing Champions banner, who Ellerbe also works for since stepping down as CEO of Mayweather Promotions in June.

Hearn recently announced the signing of WBC lightweight titlist, Shakur Stevenson and has been adamant about making a unification clash between the unbeaten Americans.

The promotional rivals seemed a lot more cordial than perhaps many would have expected when they took part in a joint interview with members of the media at the grand arrivals for Saturday’s unified super middleweight title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Edgar Berlanga.

However, they were naturally at odds when quizzed on how a Davis-Stevenson fight would play out.

“I think Tank against Shakur is one of the biggest fights in the sport,” Hearn said.

“I think Tank is so exceptional it’s going to take someone as good as Shakur to give him a real fight.

“I love that fight.”

Ellerbe disagreed: “Shakur can’t beat Tank, he beats all them other fighters but he can’t f*** with Tank.”

Hearn replied: “I disagree, Tank loses rounds.”

Ellerbe then fired back insisting the Baltimore star, who has 28 knockouts from 30 wins, is able to end fights at his own accord.

“Tank decides to do what he wants to and ends certain fights.”

Hearn closed the debate by suggesting he would have a bet with Ellerbe over how the bout would go if it ever got made.

Stevenson is set to defend his title against Joe Cordina on the undercard of the undisputed light heavyweight title showdown between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol on October 12 in Riyadh.

Davis, who stopped Frank Martin in June, is set to fight in November, although an opponent is yet to be finalised.

The 29-year-old has been linked to a clash with WBA super lightweight champion, Rayo Valenzuela, although his trainer Robert Garcia said he would not be ready for a November meeting.

Fellow top trainer, Ricky Funez hinted earlier this week that Davis would be fighting one of Garcia’s fighters.

“It’ll be in November,” Funez told Pro Boxing Fans on Monday.

“I think it’s going to be in Las Vegas.

“It’s going to be against one of Robert Garcia’s fighters.”
