Eddie Hearn has weighed in on the speculation around whether or not Anthony Joshua will stick with trainer Ben Davison.

Hearn and Davison could only watch on as Joshua was conclusively stopped by Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium last month, falling short in his bid to become a three time heavyweight champion of the world.

The Harlow coach has come under criticism in the aftermath of the fight, particularly for his instructions to ‘AJ’ immediately before he was stopped by Dubois in the fifth.

The Watford superstar is no stranger to hiring and firing coaches – Davison is his fourth in the last three years.

However, in a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Matchroom boss Hearn stated he believes Joshua will not be looking at moving on to a fifth any time soon.

“He’s happy with his training camp. He was in great condition; he was sparring really well.

“In my opinion, there won’t be any changes.”

Davison had received heavy praise for his work with Joshua prior to the disastrous showdown with Dubois, with many observers stating the 34-year-old looked as good as ever in his two fights prior against Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.

However, those showings proved to be worth little against ‘DDD’, who set about his older countryman and dominated virtually the entirety of the bout.

Against the advice of many prominent voices in the boxing world, it is looking increasingly likely that Joshua will be jumping straight into another clash with the heavy-handed 26-year-old, with a second fight reportedly the preferred option of Saudi Arabian financier Turki Alalshikh.

It should come as no surprise though that Joshua is keen on settling the score straight away – he immediately rematched the only two other men to defeat him, Andy Ruiz Jr and Oleksandr Usyk.

That said, another stoppage loss to Dubois at this stage would surely call time on the career of British boxing’s biggest ever star.
