Eddie Hearn insists Gervonta Davis is given bad advice after the Baltimore star rejected and then exposed the offer he received to face Conor Benn.
Hearn revealed exclusively to Pro Boxing Fans on Monday that Davis had declined his offer to face Benn, which the Matchroom boss said to multiple reporters was eight figures.
Davis, 29, who would likely have to jump two weight classes to face the British welterweight, released the $10m offer which Hearn sent him in an email, on his X account on Saturday, before deleting the post.
Hearn believes the reason ‘Tank’ is unwilling to speak with him is due to being given the wrong guidance.
“I didn’t say I’ve offered $25m,” the 44-year-old told IFLTV.
“I said I’ve offered him eight figures, which is $10m plus upside on pay-per-view and the gate.
“I think he could make anywhere between $15 and $25m for that fight with Conor Benn.
“I said in the email I want to sit down with you and explain the pay-per-view upside and the gate upside.
“He doesn’t want to entertain those conversations, because he just gets bad advice, that’s all.
“Why wouldn’t you have a conversation about it? You don’t even know what the upside on pay-per-view is and the gate.”
Benn got into several social media spats after his unanimous decision victory over Peter Dobson in Las Vegas earlier this month, including Errol Spence Jr and Devin Haney.
Hearn is now targeting a showdown for the controversial 27-year-old with former two-weight world champion, Danny Garcia, who he says has reached out to his team over having a discussion about a potential bout.
With regards to ‘Tank’ posting the offer he sent him on social media, Hearn feels it was a childish move from the 29-year-old, who is reportedly set to face Frank Martin later this year.
“He should really have a sit down and a chat and an explanation about what he could make and if he feels like Conor Benn is an easy fight, he should be having those conversations,” he added.
“You send him an offer, he puts it up on Twitter, it’s baby stuff.
“But, he’s a great fighter. Huge star. Good luck to him.”
