Eddie Hearn was left shocked after John Fury claimed that he would “smack” him the next time he sees him.

Fury, the father of WBC heavyweight world champion, Tyson has had several exchanges in the media with Hearn over the years, who promotes Anthony Joshua, specifically over the failure of a bout between Fury and Joshua materialising.

Fury Sr launched a scathing attack on the Matchroom boss and even said the 44-year-old would retire from promoting without specifying an exact reason for this.

“That man is a total p****,” he said to IFLTV.

“And you know when I see him, smack right in the ear hole. And I mean that.

“AJ’s a gentleman, he’s done what he can for this country but I’ll tell you now if he [Hearn] comes round John Fury, I’ll backhander that bum.

“He ain’t said nothing but I’ll tell you what it is, he’s in for the biggest shock of his life in the boxing world.

“And he’ll probably be that sick he’ll never look at boxing promoting ever again. It’s coming for him.

“Hold your breath, what’s coming for him will retire him from the game.”

Hearn, who is currently in New York to promote Edgar Berlanga’s clash with Jason Quigley on Saturday, suggested the rant could have been caused by his response to Fury Sr saying that Oleksandr Usyk owed his son an apology.

The 59-year-old has taken exception with Usyk, believing that the unified heavyweight world champion has attempted to tarnish his son’s reputation following the collapse of their proposed fight in April.

“I don’t know [where it stems from],” he said in response to IFLTV.

“Someone asked me what I thought of John Fury’s comments about he [Usyk] has to apologise.

“I can’t remember what I said.

“I am a p**** he is right there. I hope he doesn’t give me a backhand, but maybe it will come one day.

“I have met him I think once or twice, but what can you do?

“I mean let’s be honest it ain’t not much of a fair fight is it.

“There’s a lot more people who John Fury can have a real fight with than me.

“It’s a bit one-sided.”

Hearn said earlier this week that a rematch between Joshua and Dillian Whyte eyed for August 12 is now looking increasingly unlikely with negotiations reportedly breaking down over Whyte’s requested purse for the bout.

Joshua is still set to fight on August 12, according to Hearn before moving onto a long-awaited clash with Deontay Wilder, which is being lined up for December in Saudi Arabia.
