Eddie Hearn has stated he would be more than happy to pit some of his fighters against Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy stable in a 5 vs 5 tournament.

Since Hearn and Frank Warren pitted five of their fighters against each other in Riyadh earlier this year, there have been calls for he and long-time nemesis De La Hoya to do the same.

And although the pair have not made too many cross-promotional matchups in the past, the Golden Boy CEO claimed he would “love” to go up against the Brentwood tycoon, before teasing him about some of his fighters’ results in recent times.

“I mean, I wish – I would love to! And have him, what? He’s 0 and 17 now, or 0 in 24, 25,” De La Hoya said on a DAZN feature.

“Yeah, why not?”

Hearn took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to the former six-weight world champion, citing five potential Matchroom vs Golden Boy clashes that he described as “easy work”:

  1. Jaron Ennis vs Ryan Garcia
  2. Shakur Stevenson vs William Zepeda
  3. Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Israil Madrimov
  4. Gilberto Ramirez vs Jai Opetaia
  5. Jack Catterall vs Jose Ramirez

In the inaugural instalment of the 5 vs 5 concept back in June, Hearn suffered a drubbing at the hands of Warren, with every single one of his fighters losing on the night.

His misery was compounded just a couple of months later, when his prized heavyweight Anthony Joshua suffered a brutal stoppage defeat to career-long Warren charge, Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.

Hearn and De La Hoya have gone back-and-forth on social media and in interviews for years, and it is unlikely the build-up to a 5 vs 5 would be as cordial as seen with Warren earlier this year.

The Brit has found himself a regular target on the Californian’s ‘Clap Back Thursdays’ weekly social media segment, to which he has responded by repeatedly questioning De La Hoya’s mental state.
