Eddie Hearn admits he’s concerned Darren Till may struggle to keep his composure when he faces Tommy Fury on January 18.
Former UFC welterweight, Till will challenge Fury at the Co-op Live in Manchester, live on DAZN pay-per-view.
Tensions boiled over between the pair and particularly Fury’s father John at a press conference in London on Tuesday to promote the showdown and Matchroom Boxing boss, Hearn has questioned whether the Liverpool man can hold his nerve in the ring.
“It’s commercially an interesting match-up,” the 45-year-old said on the Ariel and Ade show.
“Tommy Fury’s a big name.
“Darren Till’s a great personality.
“You’ve got a guy who’s not really good enough to be a professional boxer at a championship level against a UFC fighter that has the boxing fundamentals.
“So I think in respect of the match-up, I think it’s quite an even match-up in all honesty.
“I do worry about Darren in terms of keeping his composure in the ring if things don’t go his way.
“I don’t mind it, because it’s leaning more towards the world of professional boxing than the world of social media.”
Fury, Fury Sr and Till all had to be separated by security after a melee ensued following a heated back-and-forth in which Till threatened to kick his rival in the face when they square off in an eight-round heavyweight clash.
Fury, who has beaten both Jake Paul and KSI in his 10-fight professional career, walked out of the press conference after the fracas and did not return for a face-off.
Hearn admits he is expecting a competitive fight though when the pair meet in the early part of 2025.
“I don’t hate it, because Tommy Fury has gone out and beaten KSI, he’s beaten Jake Paul,” he added.
“He’s had some professional fights.
“And Darren Till is a fighter and I do think Darren has been training in boxing long enough with Joe McNally and those guys to have the credentials and the ability to be more than competitive in a fight with Tommy Fury.
“So in that respect I don’t mind it.”
