Heavyweight contender Joe Hanks makes his return to the squared circle when he takes on Nick Guivas in a scheduled eight-round bout on Saturday night, November 5th at the Morristown National Guard Armory in Morristown, New Jersey.
The card will be the inaugural event promoted by Ambush Promotions. In the co-feature, Denis “The Momma’s Boy” Douglin will see action in a super middleweight bout scheduled for eight-rounds.
Hanks of Newark, New Jersey has a record of 21-2 with 14 knockouts. The 33 year-old turned professional December 6, 2007 with a 2nd round stoppage over Joseph Rabotte in the Bronx. Hanks went on to win his first 21 bouts, which included wins over Alfredo Escalrera Jr. (18-3-1), Johnnie White (22-2), Anthony Gatt (7-1-1), Ashanti Jordan (10-0) & Hildo Silva (4-2-2).
After losing to undefeated Andy Ruiz, Hanks dropped a ten-round unanimous decision to Derric Rossy on May 16, 2014 in Montreal.
Guivas of Topeka, Kansas, has a record of 12-5-1 with 9 knockouts. Guivas, 37 years-old, turned professional in 2011, was undefeated in his first five outings. Guivas has wins over Justin Willms (4-1) and Thomas Jones (1-0).
Of Guivas’ five setbacks, four were to the likes of Eugene Hill (33-1), Jarrell Miller (16-0-1), Chazz Witherspoon (33-3) and Bowie Tapou (23-3). His latest outing, he was stopped by Hill on August 13.
A terrific undercard has been assembled.
Douglin of Marlboro, New Jersey has a record of 20-5 with 13 knockouts. The popular 28 year-old has shown that he is willing to take on all comers.
He turned professional on February 13th, 2009 with a 1st round stoppage over Roberto Irrizarry. Douglin went on to win his first 12 bouts, with 1st round knockouts over Matt Berkshire (11-2-2), Orphius Waite (5-1-1) and a decision over Lamar Harris (6-1).
After a stunning upset loss to Doel Carrasquillo, Douglin scored solid wins over Steven Martinez (11-0) and Phillip McCants (9-2-1). Douglin then dropped back to back fights to future world champion Jermell Charlo (17-0) and Jose Angel Rodriguez (16-2-1).
Douglin has gone 6-2 in his last eight bouts, with the two blemishes being a stoppage defeat to three-time world title challenger George Groves (20-2) and his last bout, when Douglin put up a spirited effort before being stopped in the tenth and final round by undefeated prospect David Benavidez (15-0) on August 5th in Philadelphia.

Super Middleweight Jerson Ravelo (21-6, 12 KO’s) of Newark, NJ and middleweight Ian Green (10-1, 8 KO’s) of Paterson, NJ will see action against opponents to be named.
Delen Parsley (12-1, 4 KO’s) of Brooklyn, NY will take on Henry Beckford (5-4, 1 KO) of New York will do battle in a middleweight bout.
