In a very intriguing main event on Friday Night Fights, two former titleholders got in the ring against one another, with Kendall Holt squaring off against Julio Diaz. The fight didn’t take very long though, and by the third round, Holt scored a huge TKO win to vault himself back into the picture in the crowded and competitive scene at 140 lbs.
Holt was using his superior speed and power to handle Diaz, who is past his best, right from the start. In the third, the trouble started with a flush left hook that landed to the jaw of Diaz, and sent him to the canvas. Diaz was able to get up but the referee wasn’t convinced he could continue, and the fight was stopped, with Holt winning by 3rd round TKO.
In a supporting bout, hot prospect Jonathan Gonzalez continued his winning ways. He improved to 13-0, with all 13 wins coming by knockout, when he scored a 7th round TKO win over his overmatched opponent, Rudy Cisneros. Gonzalez is definitely a young prospect to watch in the junior middlweight division.
