Jamie McDonnell will set out on a new path to a World title shot on the undercard of Carl Froch’s mammoth WBA and IBF Super Middleweight title defense against George Groves at the sold-out Phones 4u Arena in Manchester on November 23, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
The Doncaster boxer will be in action for the first time since beating Julio Ceja to win the vacant IBF bantamweight title in May. The 27 year old was recently stripped of his title by the IBF but will begin a fresh assault on a World title in Manchester.
McDonnell joins a stacked bill, which also features Scott Quigg’s WBA Super Bantamweight title defense. Liverpool pair Stephen Smith and Rocky Fielding are both in action, Martin Gethin defends his British Lightweight title against Anthony Crolla and Olympic Gold medalist Luke Campbell MBE fights for the fourth time as a pro.
The full undercard will be announced on Wednesday November 6.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with McDonnell right now. There’s been a lot of rumors about what has been going on behind the scenes with him being stripped of the belt by the IBF, and whatever else has been taking place. But he’ll be in action on a big night for Froch vs. Groves.
