Janibek Alimkhanuly defended his IBF and WBO middleweight titles in his home country of Kazakhstan, as he took a fifth-round stoppage win against the brave Anauel Ngamissengue.

Janibek (17-0, 12 KOs) was last seen in October last year, doing pretty much as he pleased against Andrei Mikhailovich before finding the finish in round nine, while Ngamissengue (14-1, 9 KOs) had never previously been past the eighth round. The Frenchman was last in action last June, taking a third round win over journeyman Sandro Jajanidze in France.

As brave as Ngamissengue was, he was outgunned from the start, dropped by a one-two from the champion at the end of the opening frame.

The visitor tried his best to be competitive, but was troubled once again at the end of the third, a right hook doing the damage this time.

The end wasn’t very long in coming, and it arrived in the usual devastating fashion for Janibek. A duo of left hands decked the challenger heavily, and as he rose unsteadily, the fight was wisely waved off.

Undercard review

On the undercard, Sultan Zaurbek (20-0, 13 KOs) remained unbeaten, as the super featherweight took over after the halfway mark to take a ten round points win over former world title challenger Azinga Fuzile (18-3, 12 KOs). No official scores were declared after the fight, but Zaurbek was declared a unanimous decision winner.

Two-time Olympic Gold medallist Bakhodir Jalolov (15-0, 14 KOs) made a home appearance on this card, but was far from impressive in a ten round points win against Ihor Shevadzutskyi (12-3, 10 KOs).

Jalolov scored a knockdown in the third round, but largely laboured after that, and looked hurt in round seven, eventually forced to go the distance for the first time as a pro. He was a handy winner though taking tallies of 100-89, 97-92 and 97-93.

At super lightweight, Batyrzhan Jukembayev (24-1, 17 KOs) took the WBA Continental Gold title by taking a clear points win against the teak-tough Kane Gardner (17-5, 7 KOs). Gardner was as game as they come, but Jukembayev ran out a dominant winner by two scores of 100-89, and a third score of 100-90.

Otabek Kholmatov (13-1, 12 KOs) retured after a losing effort for the WBA world title against Ray Ford last time out, and the featherweight knocked out Jason Canoy Manigos (30-13-2, 2 KOs) with a body shot in the eighth round of their clash

Bantamweight prospect Balaussa Muzdiman (7-0, 5 KOs) took a points win against Maria Theresa Pinili (7-2, 2 KOs)over eight rounds.

In six round contests, Makhmud Sabyrkhan (1-0, 1 KO) debuted with a second-round stoppage of Duk Dung Huynh (2-2, 2 KOs), and fellow debutant Torekhan Sabyrkhan (1-0, 1 KO) was a first round winner in his welterweight contest with Jiri Hauke (4-7, 2 KO).
