Janks Trotter’s Next Fight Moved to Nov 19th in Calgary at Desperado’s Night Club

Light Middleweight Janks Trotter (6-0-1 w/6 knockouts) will fight Richard Reittie (8-1-1 w/7 knockouts) on Saturday, November 19 at Desperado’s Night Club in Calgary in a highly anticipated bout scheduled for 8 rounds. Previously, it was announced that Trotter would fight on November 4 at the Chinese Cultural Center in Calgary but the event venue and date had to be changed due to a fighter’s inability to obtain a passport and a pending application for a liquor license that was taking an inordinate amount of time to process.

Also, a local and controversial boxing promoter was planning a show for the same date; so, it seemed logical to move the show to a different venue on a different date. Fan Base Promotions promises the new venue (Desperado’s) and extended date (November 19) wont alter their standard commitment to excellence . Doors at this event open at 6PM. Only 500 seats will be sold due to a configuration of the venue which will enable all boxing fans to watch the event unobstructed. Boxing is a great sport and ever moment should be enjoyed. After the event is over, the general public is welcome to attend the after party at Desperado’s.

Tickets for the November 19 event officially go on sale Tuesday, October 18 at 12 Noon.. Boxing Fans can go online at: www.fanbaseboxing.corm , via phone (403-926-0269) to secure tickets or purchase them at Desperado’s Night Club box office on the day of the event…..Prices start at $25.00 for general admission and ringside seating is available upon request. Desperado’s Night Club is located at 24_7400 Trail South in Calgary..PH.403-453-0500 for directions.

Reittie, born in Jamaica and now fighting out of Nova Scotia, Canada, will present Trotter with his sternest ring test to date. His experience, power and ring poise makes him an ideal challenge for the unbeaten Trotter who will be a Main Event headliner for the first time in his professional pugilistic career. Some boxing scribes are questioning aloud and in print whether or not Trotter is ready for top echelon opponents. The result on Saturday, November 19 could provide a definitive indicator.

Reittie knows a victory over the immensely popular Trotter will help erase the memory of his only defeat: a first round 2011 TKO at the hands of little known Rafael Delgado in Panama, Delgado’s homeland. Since that crushing loss, Reitti has scored 2 successive knockouts. He wants Trotter to be #3 and a win might support and bolster his alleged claim of being the best pound for pound fighter in Canada. Trotter, rumored to be in line for another appearance on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights in 2012…. refuses to make a prediction but he does promise to bring his A game to the bout. No one thinks this bout will go 8 rounds.

In the featured Co-Main event, Calgary’s brash and cocky Dustin “Sandman” Sutley (4-0-4 knockouts) hopes to continue on his winning way when he takes on two time former Mexican National Champion Jose Gonzales from Yuma Arizona. Gonzalez’s record is 0-1-1 but both decisions drew more than a chorus of boos from a boxing crowd that doesn’t live in Yuma, Arizona. Sutley has a legion of fans that follows him from fight to fight and their allegiance to him reaches “Rock Star” status. In Calgary , he has been described as a “Knockout Machine” gearing up for a CPBC Super Middleweight Title bout in the not too distant future. First, he has to slug and box his way through a very under rated Jose Gonzalez. This contest is scheduled for four rounds and should be very entertaining. Sutley is Trained by former Canadian boxing Champion Dale “The Cowboy” Brown.

On the under card, former middleweight contender Albert “The Punisher” Onolunose (18-1-7 knockouts) marks his return to boxing after suffering a career threatening knockout at the hands of Grady Brewer in their 2009 Championship fight. The Nigerian Native fell hopelessly to the canvas in the second round after a barrage of punches from Brewer.. A count wasn’t necessary, Onolunose lay listless for more than 30 seconds before his corner, ring physician and referee came to his assistance. Onolunose took the fight on 5 days notice and critics , in hindsight, question that decision. They also point to his record of fighting “Tomato Cans” with less than distinguished records. Albert spent two years in a guarded community setting thinking about his past, present and future.

Now a resident of Calgary, he hopes to resurrect his career and prove that he has legitimate talent. He will face rugged Martin Desjardins in a 6 round middleweight contest that is definitely a crossroads fight for both fighters. Desjardins has faced a number of contenders and former champions ( Jean Pascal, Peter Quillinn) for example and although he hasn’t fared well lately, he never lays down. It could be an interesting fight. At the end of the night, a career may end. Onolunose Vs. Desjardin is scheduled for 6 rounds.

The first bell honors belong to Canadian Cruiser Weights James Dearmin and Steve Franjic in a match scheduled for 4 rounds. Dearmin is 4-7-1 and hails from British Columbia while Franjic sports a record of 6-0-w/ 4 knockouts and he fights out of Orangeville, Ontario Canada. Dearmin is a pesky boxer with little power but his awkward style can psyche out some less than patient opponent. His experience could be a factor. Franjic has a bite to his punches and likes to work the body and throw the overhand right. He is young and has high hopes of becoming a contender…time will tell.

Boxing patrons should know that Desperado’s Night Club will be reconfigured for the November 19th Event in an effort to make the club more boxing friendly. Fan Base promotions doesn’t want anyone missing a moment of boxing action and that means changing the configuration of the club so no one is confronted with an obstructed view and therefore misses a knockout moment. After completing this procedure, seating capacity will be reduced to 500. After the fight, the venue will restored to its’ normal capacity so that the general public and fight goers can enjoy a real wild and crazy after party with the boxers and the “Fabulous” Ring Girls from Fan Base Promotions. A reminder: all event seats will go on sale Tuesday, October 18 online at: www.fanbaseboxing.com or call 403-453-0500. Desperado’s Night Club is located at 24_7400 Trail South in Calgary AB.
