Mature beyond his years in and out of the ring, 21-year-old Jessie Vargas (13-0, 7 KO’s) has boxing insiders singing his praises as one of the sport’s top junior welterweight prospects.  A professional since 2008, the Las Vegas resident who originally hails from Los Angeles stepped up his game in 2010 with a 6-0 run that was highlighted by wins over tough veterans Arturo Morua (TKO6), Ernesto Zavala (KO6) and Pablo Daniel Sarmiento (KO1).  A favorite of Club Nokia fans who have seen him compete three times at “Fight Night Club,” Vargas can think of no better way to start a pivotal year than in his native Los Angeles at Club Nokia.

A product of the fighting city of Philadelphia, 28-year-old Lanard Lane (12-1, 7 KO’s) has come up the hard way, in and out of the ring.  Currently a firefighter in his adopted hometown of Houston, Texas, the former amateur standout has issued professional defeats to the likes of Dairo Esalas, Said El Harrak and John Brown thus far in his career.  When he makes his California debut on February 24, it’s with the intention of becoming the first man to defeat hot prospect Jessie Vargas.
