He’ll also look to prove that he’s ready for a run at a world title, but first he has to defeat the rugged Soto Karass on July 7.
2008 Mexican Olympian Francisco Vargas (11-0-1, 9 KO’s) has an eye on making the transition from prospect to contender, but before he does, he has to defeat Irving Torres on July 7. The 27-year-old Mexico City native who now trains in Los Angeles sees every fight as a championship fight and will look to impress his new Southern California supporters at The Hangar.
Making his United States debut against Vargas after competing solely on the Caribbean circuit will be Salinas, Puerto Rico’s Irving Torres (9-2, 7 KO’s). The winner of three of his last four fights, the 25-year-old Torres is a skilled battler with plenty of power which he will utilize as he attempts to hand the undefeated Vargas his first loss.
