Undefeated and world ranked heavyweight Joe “The Future” Hanks returns to battle this Saturday, July 27 against fellow undefeated prospect Andy ‘The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr. at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Arena in Macao, China. It’s an intriguing bout of heavyweight prospects, and a rare meeting of undefeated American heavies looking to take the next step.
“This is an excellent opportunity for Joe to fight on this terrific show and demonstrate to the boxing world that he’s ready to take the next step in his career. Ruiz is a good young prospect, but Joe is very well prepared and ready for a great performance on Saturday” said Joe DeGuardia, President of Star Boxing, who will be ringside for the fight.
Fighting out of Newark, New Jersey, the 30-year-old Hanks, 21-0-0 (14KO’s), will be making the first start of his 2013 campaign following a sensational season last year with three outstanding performances. Most recently Hanks won a shutout unanimous decision over battle-tested veteran Maurenzo Smith on December 6 in Costa Mesa, California.
The heavy-handed Hanks two previous bouts in 2012 resulted in early knockout victories over Rafael Pedro and Marcus Rhode. He is currently ranked # 12 by the World Boxing Organization.
Just 23-years-old, Ruiz has amassed a record of 19-0-0 (13KO’s), since turning professional in 2009. The Imperial, California native returns to the ring following a first round knockout of Carl Davis on June 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
