Simon Jordan feels Anthony Joshua should not be “entitled” to a second fight with Daniel Dubois after suffering a fifth round defeat on Saturday.

Joshua’s bid to become a three-time heavyweight world champion was scuppered in spectacular fashion, with Dubois dropping him four times before scoring an emphatic knockout, when ‘AJ’ went for broke in a desperate final attack.

The 34-year-old gave a statement to the media in a post-fight press conference, confirming that he would not be retiring and reiterated this stance in a video posted on social media on Monday.

The Watford man’s promoter, Eddie Hearn revealed that his charge has the option for an immediate rematch, although outspoken pundit, Jordan feels that it is undeserved.

“The whole evening was about a homecoming for Anthony Joshua,” he told talkSPORT.

“That’s the part I didn’t like.

“And the fact that he gets to do a press conference where he gets to tell everybody his point of view and everyone gives him a round of applause, I also think is a load of nonsense.

“So I don’t think he’s entitled to a rematch.

“No challenger in any fight would get a rematch clause, the champion would get a rematch clause.”

Former world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury was watching his career-long rival from ringside and vented his frustrations at the prospect of losing out on a £150m payday following Joshua’s loss.

However, Hearn has offered fresh hope that the long-awaited, all-British showdown could still materialise after revealing that he has advised ‘AJ’ to wait to see the result of the December 21 rematch between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk before making a decision on his future.

“My advice is don’t do anything until Dec 21st – the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury rematch,” Hearn told Sky Sports.

“If Fury loses it could set up a big fight vs Joshua, if Fury wins he could take a voluntary defence vs Joshua.

“It’s still the biggest fight in the division by a mile.”
