Free Agent Boxing Management is proud to announce the addition of WBO #10-ranked KO artist Jorge “Destroyer” Melendez (24-2-1, 23 KOs) of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, to its growing roster of boxers.

“This is a big day for us, and I’m proud to have this wonderful young prospect fighting for us,” said Free Agent Boxing president José A. Acevedo. “Boxing will never grow if we don’t keep cultivating new talent, and in Jorge, we’ve signed a great fighter that you’re going to be hearing a lot about in the months and years to come.”

The 23-year-old Melendez is the Interim WBO Latino and WBA Fedecaribe Light Middleweight Champion. In 2010, he stopped William Correa in the second round to claim the WBA Fedecaribe belt and in 2011 went the distance against tough veteran Eric Mitchell to claim the Interim WBO Latino belt.

In his last fight, he defended his WBO belt against the well experienced and dangerous fighter Milton Nuñez by destroying him in the first round.

Melendez’s signing of the co-managerial agreement was more of a formality, as he and his original management “Troya Boxing” had already been working closely with Free Agent Boxing Management.

“Free Agent always supported me in my career and now with them onboard officially, it will be even better because we are a family,” said Melendez. “Free Agent wants to help me and I want to give my best for them and for my country. I know I have the potential, and I will be world champion someday soon.” Melendez said.

As amateur Melendez accumulated a record of 48 wins and only 6 losses and represented Puerto Rico twice in international tournaments.

In joining Free Agent Boxing Management, Melendez is part of a stable of fighters that includes up-and-coming prospect, Roberto J. Acevedo and top prospect Joel “Joelo” Torres.
