You can add next week’s fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson to the ever growing list of things Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury disagree about.

Paul and Tyson will lock horns at the AT&T Stadium in Texas next Friday in an event that has split opinion throughout the boxing world – and that includes Joshua and Fury.

And despite the fact ‘Iron Mike’ is approaching 60-years-old, his British namesake believes he can get the job done against his younger adversary.

“If Mike Tyson hits anybody, I don’t care if he’s 90, he’s going to knock them out cold isn’t he?” he told the MMA Hour.

“He’s Iron Mike Tyson, the baddest man on the planet.

“Jake Paul is very experienced now and he’s had a lot of fights but obviously, I have to back Mike Tyson for the knockout as he always backs me.”

Tyson in his prime terrorised the heavyweight division in the late 1980s, however that was a long time ago and some have voiced concerns about the New Yorker’s health should things go wrong against Paul.

This was the view Joshua expressed when he was asked about the fight during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show.

“He [Tyson] is older now.

“I pray that he comes out healthy. I think Jake Paul [wins] because of youth – that’s the only thing.”

Paul, who made his fame as a YouTuber, has amassed a record of 10-1 since entering the world of professional boxing back in 2020, though the majority of his wins have come against former MMA fighters.

Tyson has not boxed professionally since a 6th round defeat to Irish heavyweight Kevin McBride back in 2004, though did partake in an exhibition with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

The polarising fight will take place on streaming giant Netflix and is tipped to be the most viewed boxing event of the year.
