Anthony Joshua has fallen dramatically in the Ring Magazine heavyweight rankings after his stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.

Dubois stunned Joshua inside five rounds earlier this month, in what was a fairly one-sided affair, aside from a brief pocket of success for the Watford man just before he was brutally knocked out.

After falling short in his bid to become a three-time heavyweight champion of the world, it is no surprise to see the 34-year-old’s position with the Ring, regarded by many as the most credible rankings body, take a hit.

In the new ratings list that have just been published, Joshua has tumbled all the way down to number seven – the lowest he has been ranked in years.

Dubois, on the other hand, is now classed as the third best fighter in the blue-riband division, behind Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

Given how conclusive the bout was, there have even been calls from both fans online and prominent voices in the boxing world for Joshua to call time on his storied 11-year professional career.

However, he has been adamant about continuing and could even jump straight back in with ‘Dynamite’ in an immediate rematch.

At 34-years-old and with an ever growing number of heavyweights waiting in the wings for a title shot, one would imagine another defeat for Joshua would put the final nail in the coffin for any title ambitions he may still have.

As well as another showdown with Dubois, a long-awaited fight with Deontay Wilder has also been touted, with the Alabama man’s career in tatters and in desperate need of a win following back-to-back losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang.
