It’s been more than seven years, but Zab Judah is once again a titleholder in the junior welterweight division. The Judah vs. Mabuza results are in, and Zab continued his dominant come back to the 140 lbs division, putting on a stellar performance over the hot Kaizer Mabuza to win the vacant IBF junior welterweight title.
Judah won the bout via 7th round TKO after stunning Mabuza and then turning up the heat and forcing the referee stoppage. Official time of the stoppage was with :59 remaining in the 7th. Judah has now won his last 5 bouts since losing to Joshua Clottey, and the last two have been the most impressive.
First, he put enough early rounds in the bag to turn back the slugging Lucas Matthysse of Argentina. Now, he dominated Mabuza, who was more than a no hoper, as was seen as he stopped Kendall Holt last year. Now, Judah is in the works for a big fight in the division against one of the major names, whether that is Timothy Bradley, Amir Khan, Devon Alexander or anyone else.
In other action from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, middleweight Tarvis Simms got back in the ring and won an uneventful 8-round bout against his overmatched foe.
Hot prospect Sadam Ali had been scheduled to perform, but his fight was canceled in the final days leading up to the card after his opponent withdraw.
Congratulations are due to Zab Judah who is once again a titleholder at 140 lbs. The boxing world will definitely be seeing more of Super Judah in the coming months, and you can expect a big name fight next.
