Birmingham’s own Kal Yafai will defend his WBA World Super – Flyweight title at the Barclaycard Arena when he takes on Japan’s Suguru Muranaka, on 13th May 2017, live on Sky Sports.
Yafai became the champion when defeating Luis Concepcion in Manchester in December to become Birmingham’s first World champion.
Yafai is unbeaten with an outstanding record of 21 – 0 and the 27-year-old believes he will be starting a new career as the World champion. His opponent, Muranaka, who is the former Japanese Flyweight champion, boxes outside of his home country in the first time in his 13 year career.

Fight week begins with the public work-out for Yafai vs. Muranaka at The Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham – the ring will be located outside Debenhams.
Yafai, Muranaka and fighters on the undercard will perform work-outs and will also be available for brief one-on-one interviews.
Thursday May 11 – final press conference – midday for 12.30pm start – Barclaycard Arena, King Edwards Road, Birmingham, B1 2AA
The final press conference ahead of Saturday night’s action will take place at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham from 12.30pm on Thursday.
Yafai, Muranaka, fighters on the undercard and their teams will address the media.
Limited and brief one-on-one interviews with the fighters will be available.
Friday May 12 – weigh-in – 1pm start – Rotunda Square (outside The Bullring), Park Street, Birmingham, B5 4BU
All fighters for Saturday night’s action will hit the scales at the Rotunda Square outside The Bullring in Birmingham from 1pm.
