George Kambosos Jr says he is open to a future clash with Gervonta Davis.
Kambosos Jr and Davis were linked with a showdown in 2021 when the Australian dethroned Teofimo Lopez to become unified lightweight champion, although a meeting between the pair never materialised.
‘Ferocious’ who looks to bounce back from back-to-back defeats to Devin Haney when he faces Maxi Hughes for the IBO lightweight title in Oklahoma on July 22, admits he is keen to test himself against the undefeated Baltimore man.
“The most important things is Maxi Hughes,” the 30-year-old told Fight Hub TV.
“That’s all I’m focused on. Maxi Hughes [on] July 22.
”But again there are so many great fights out there.
“I really like the Gervonta Davis fight.
“I think style-wise, a lot of people are saying he’s too explosive, he’ll knock me out whatever.
“But, they said the same thing about Teofimo Lopez.
“So I think style-wise, me and him is a shootout like I would say about me and Lopez back in the day.”
‘Tank’ extended his unbeaten record to 29 straight wins after stopping Ryan Garcia in the seventh round in April.
The 28-year-old is currently serving the remainder of a 90-day sentence for a 2020 hit-and-run crash, which injured four people, in a Baltimore jail after violating the terms of his house arrest.
Kambosos Jr insists he sees areas to exploit the WBA lightweight champion, who has 27 wins inside the distance.
“Before the Lopez fight I said I want to feel his power,” he added.
“I want to taste his power. I said that.

“It’s the same thing with ‘Tank’.
“If you put me to sleep, put me to sleep. I’m a warrior. I’m prepared to do whatever in that ring so I want to feel that.
“I see things in that fight like I saw in the Lopez fight.”
