Undefeated Keith “One Time” Thurman will defend his welterweight title against former titlist “Showtime” Shawn Porter on Saturday, March 12 in a highly anticipated showdown at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Thurman vs. Porter has long been talked about as one of the best fights to make in the welterweight division, as well as one of the top fighters between young stars looking to break out onto the big stage in any division in the sport. It’s Thurman’s power against Porter’s speed, and both bring a unique style to the ring. Hopefully, that meshes for an exciting fight to match what is a very intriguing match.
Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, are priced from $35 to $300 and went on sale today through Ticketmaster.
It’s unclear at this time where Thurman vs. Porter will be televised. It’ll be a part of the Premier Boxing Champions lineup, but no network or other details were announced at this time. But getting the news that this fight is made and is official is certainly enough to start with.
Fans will certainly be split on the outcome as well. Both have been tabbed by some, at one point or another, as the heir apparent in the division and a potential superstar.
