Last night in Dusseldorf, Wladimir Klitschko dispatched of former cruiserweight titleholder Jean Marc Mormeck via 4th round knockout to once again defend his heavyweight championships. The fight was basically what we all expected it to be, a one-sided exhibition. However, Mormeck was even more dismal than most could have possibly imagined, hardly throwing more than a dozen punches in the duration of the bout, literally. Nonetheless, Klitschko eventually did what he had to go and got his man out of there with the concussive blast of his right hand, followed up by a finishing-touch left hook. Right here, you can view a collection of fight night Klitschko vs. Mormeck photos to see how it all went down.
So what’s next for Wladimir? He has apparently set his sights on making a defense of his titles against American Chris Arreola, whom older brother Vitali already destroyed several years ago. It also seems that he will be mandated to face Tony Thompson for a second time. In other words, it’s all retreads, and when it’s not, we get the utterly overmatched Mormeck in there.
Can’t blame Klitschko for the lack of competition that’s out there though, and at least he scored the knockout, like he needed to do. If the fight had gone on any farther it would have been pretty pathetic.
