-Klitschko Stops Peter in 10 Rounds-
Fans with Internet access were treated to being able to watch a high quality feed of the Wladimir Klitschko vs. Sam Peter rematch via ESPN3.com. In the first fight, Klitschko survived three knockdowns to win a unanimous decision. In the rematch this Saturday from Germany, Klitschko thoroughly dominated and outclassed Peter throughout the duration of the bout, until it was stopped by referee Robert Byrd in the 10th round of the encounter, following an extended beating finally punctuated by a knockdown.
The first fight showed that while Peter could always hurt Klitschko, Klitschko had all of the skills in the world to otherwise impart his will. Years later, Klitschko has continued to improve technically and mentally, matching his raw physicality with a real game plan, and real fortitude in the ring. Meanwhile, Peter had struggled since the first encounter against Wlad, barely surviving Jameel McCLine, needing two encounters to get past James Toney, getting beaten down severely by older brother Vitali, and being outboxed for the duration by Eddie Chambers.
Therefore, the Klitschko vs. Peter rematch went as you might have expected. Wlad asserted his new position as the real kingpin of the division, and Peter, even in better shape than he has been throughout some of his struggles, proved to be nothing besides another ill suited challenger in a fairly tame attempt to take the titles from Klitschko.
For the record, Vitali made quicker work out of Peter, sealing the deal through an 8th round corner stoppage. But make no mistake about it, as his swollen face shows, Peter was in equally rough condition by the end of this contest. After the fight was stopped, Peter stayed on his back on the canvas for several moments, beaten and battered yet again by a Klitschko brother.

Next up, Klitschko will be eagerly awaiting the results of the David Haye vs. Audley Harrison bout. With his mandatory against Chambers taken care of, and the Alexander Povetkin fight being postponed due to Povetkin trainer Atlas putting the kibosh on the meeting, Klitschko can take on any opponent he desires. Make no mistake, he desires David Haye, and that’s the fight that the majority of the boxing community is awaiting as well. With the Klitschko vs. Peter results in and the bout finally out of the way, going very much as expected, boxing fans must now wait and hope yet again for a real, meaningful match to be put together.
