Matadors Look to Continue Winning Streak Against The Memphis Force Thursday at 8:00 p.m. CT in Mississippi
With a lead in the America Conference at stake, the World Series of Boxing’s L.A. Matadors weighed in on Wednesday at the Filling Station in Southaven, Miss. for Thursday’s away match against the Memphis Force. All 10 competing fighters made weight. Riding a two-match win streak, the Matadors are Los Angeles’ representative in the global World Series of Boxing, a groundbreaking, international sports league with teams from three continents competing for five spots in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The Matadors will compete against three other North American teams, Miami, Mexico City and Memphis, for the next four months with the winner from the North American division advancing to the semifinals to compete against teams from other continents.
The Matadors are hoping to extend their Americas Conference lead against the last place Force in the tight conference race. They’ll rely on two-time Olympian & 2010 National Golden Gloves champ Rau’Shee Warren and Pico Rivera native & 2009 National Championships Silver Medalist Javier Torres.
Long Beach Native Dorian Anthony seeks his first win as he continues his quest for a coveted spot on the U.S. Boxing Team for the 2012 Olympic Games.
